---- — Dolores Marie Grunloh, 92, passed away early Saturday morning, July 13, 2013, at Evergreen Nursing Home in Effingham surrounded by her family.
Dolores was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis. Funeral services will be held there at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday evening at the church with a combined parish prayer service and rosary beginning at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Healing Garden at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital or to the donor’s choice. Dolores was born May 25, 1921, in Ste. Marie, the daughter of Charlie and Carrie Keller. She married Andrew Francis Grunloh on July 26, 1941. Together they had 10 children before he passed away on July 1, 1956. Dolores raised the children on the family farm in Green Creek. Later, she was married to Leo Kaufmann from April 6, 1975, until his death in 1995.
Dolores was known for her two incredibly deep passions in her life. The first was her devotion to her family and her unconditional love for each of her children and their families. She was blessed with 32 grandchildren and 71 great-grandchildren. Her second passion, as anyone who knew her well could tell you, was her love for a good game of cards.
Her children are Jim and Diane Grunloh, Mary and Paul Koester, Linda and John Barry, John and Betty Grunloh, Rose and Tom Niebrugge, Chuck and Geri Grunloh, Kathy and Randy Meyer, Paul and June Grunloh, and Andrew and Helen Grunloh.
Her grandchildren include Lisa Dorshner, Carla Layne, Steve Koester, Chris Koester, Paula Haney, Greg Koester, Jenny Dart, Mark Barry, Judy Copetas, Stacy Markwell, John Grunloh, Kristy Niemerg, Laura Dill, Brian Niebrugge, Theresa Bushur, Richard Niebrugge, Sarah Surman, Michelle Apke, Mike Grunloh, Doug Grunloh, Jim Grunloh, Angie Meyer, Alan Meyer, Mike Meyer, Jenny Bailey, Lynn Toops, Melissa Michels, Tim Grunloh, Jason Grunloh, Amy Hartrich, David Grunloh, and Matthew Grunloh.
She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Agnes Brummer.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Carrie Keller; her husband, Andrew and their son, Paul Charles; her husband, Leo Kaufmann; her daughter-in-law, Geri Grunloh; her brothers, Vincent Keller and Harold Keller; her sisters, Charlene Thies, Viola Litzelman, and Blanche Jourdan; her brothers-in-law, Fr. Melvin Grunloh and Fr. Donatus Grunloh and her sisters-in-law, Sister Marie Grunloh and Cecilia Sandschafer.
