Dolores Grunloh

Dolores Marie Grunloh, 92, passed away early Saturday morning, July 13, 2013, at Evergreen Nursing Home in Effingham surrounded by her family.

Dolores was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis. Funeral services will be held there at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday evening at the church with a combined parish prayer service and rosary beginning at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Healing Garden at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital or to the donor’s choice. Dolores was born May 25, 1921, in Ste. Marie, the daughter of Charlie and Carrie Keller. She married Andrew Francis Grunloh on July 26, 1941. Together they had 10 children before he passed away on July 1, 1956. Dolores raised the children on the family farm in Green Creek. Later, she was married to Leo Kaufmann from April 6, 1975, until his death in 1995.

Dolores was known for her two incredibly deep passions in her life. The first was her devotion to her family and her unconditional love for each of her children and their families. She was blessed with 32 grandchildren and 71 great-grandchildren. Her second passion, as anyone who knew her well could tell you, was her love for a good game of cards.

Her children are Jim and Diane Grunloh, Mary and Paul Koester, Linda and John Barry, John and Betty Grunloh, Rose and Tom Niebrugge, Chuck and Geri Grunloh, Kathy and Randy Meyer, Paul and June Grunloh, and Andrew and Helen Grunloh.
