George D. Tabb, 81, of Robinson, passed away at 8:43 a.m. Monday, June 9, 2014, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes, Indiana.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Meyer Funeral Home, Newton, with Van McQueen officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Newton. Visitation will be two hours before the service. In loving memory of George, memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
George was born on Dec. 17, 1932, in Newton, the son of John D. and Gladys (Foltz) Tabb. He married Joann Rusk of Noble on Sept. 29, 1957, and she survives. George was a barber in Newton for many years and had owned and operated a laundromat and dry cleaner in Robinson. George was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Newton, and enjoyed spending time with his family.
George is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joann Tabb of Robinson; two children, Dan (wife Helen) Tabb of Edwardsville and Carrie (husband Scot) Wolf of Peoria; three grandchildren, Caroline Tabb of Terre Haute, Indiana, Carly (husband Chad) Scott of Montreal, Canada, and Christine (husband Donnie) Mattingly of Washington, Indiana; two great-grandchildren, Emily and Ellysa Mattingly of Washington, Indiana; two sisters, Shirley (husband Tom) Jester of Jewett and Lois (husband Bob) Mackey of West Terre Haute, Indiana; brother-in-law, Van McQueen of Newton; and sister-in-law, Mildred Tabb of Arcola.
George was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dorothy McQueen; and brother, John R. Tabb.
