---- — Sally Parker, 81, of Effingham, went to be with the Lord at 5:42 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2013, at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham.

A Celebration of Life service for Sally will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at Johnson Funeral Home, Effingham, with the Rev. Drew Holloway officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Sally was born on Oct. 31, 1931, in Effingham, the daughter of Howard and Grace (Edwards) Parker. She married David M. Parker in 1954, and he preceded her in death on April 23, 1998. Sally was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Effingham. Her children were her greatest accomplishments in life. She was a substitute teacher in Florida. Sally enjoyed being a volunteer mentor for Effingham Unit 40 for eight years. She was a long time volunteer for St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital Auxiliary in Effingham.

Sally is survived by her sons, John (Donna) Parker of Altamont, Tim Parker of Effingham and Thomas (Nancy) Parker of Newbern, Tenn.; daughter, Vicky (Gary) Eley of Eldorado, Ohio; grandchildren, Laurie (Daren) Drees, Eric Parker (fiancee, Emily Stuckey), Amy Hines (partner, Wendy Rose), Ashley (Andy) Vincent, Amber Parker and Sam Miller, Autumn Parker and Adam (Brittani) Ammerman; great-grandchildren, Allie Drees, Emilie Vincent, twins Lucas and Claire Vincent, Wyatt Miller (deceased), Savannah Spencer and AJ Ammerman; and her very special nephew and nieces, Kevin S. (Becky) Parker, Kimberly (Greg) Koester, Wendy (Bryan) Pals and Jenny (DeWayne) Seachrist and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David; and brother and sister-in-law, James and Pat Parker.
