---- — Lester “Lee” Horath, 74, of Effingham, died at 8:05 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2013, peacefully at his home.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Effingham. Burial will be in Arborcrest Memorial Park, Effingham. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Sunday at Johnson Funeral Home, Effingham. Memorials may be made to Light The Night Walk, Indianapolis, c/o Team-walkforwanetta at www.lightthenight.org. Lee was born on March 9, 1939, in rural Dieterich, the son of Lester C. and Edith J. (Gephart) Horath. He married Wanetta M. Arnold on Jan. 8, 1966, in Effingham. They lived in Lockport until they retired and moved back to Effingham. Lee was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Effingham. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and spending time with his family and friends.
Lee is survived by his son, Michael Lee (Katie) Horath of Manteno; daughters, Melanie Marie (David) Shaw of Waterford, Wis., and LeaEtta Lynn (Eric) Hyer of McCordsville, Ind.; sister, Marilyn Wilson of Brazil, Ind.; brother, Clyde D. (Liz) Horath of Strasburg; 10 grandchildren; and special friend, JoAnn Bernhard.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Wanetta M. Horath; and sister, Maxine M. Bingham.
