Don Lewis, 77, of Newton, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Crain Funeral Home, Newton, with the Rev. Ken Miller officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery, Newton. Donald E. Lewis was born on May 18, 1936, in Villa Grove, the son of Levi and Gracie Lewis. On Jan. 31, 1957, Don married Allice Mae Jones and she survives. Don spent his life as an auto mechanic and auto dealer. He was the owner of Lewis Repair and Used Cars in Newton. Don was a member of Kedron United Methodist Church. He enjoyed being with his family and quail hunting.
Don will be loved and remembered by his wife of 56 years, Allice Lewis of Newton; sons, Harold David Lewis (girlfriend, Linda Niles) of Newton and William Dayne Lewis (wife, Deborah) of Dieterich; three grandsons, David Bradley Lewis of Charleston, Derek Wade Lewis of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Brian Eugene Lewis of Springfield; granddaughter, Tara Renee Lewis of Ste. Marie; two great-grandchildren, Morgan and Madison Lewis of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; and brother, Carl Lewis (wife, Freda) of Newton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kenny; and sisters, Thelma, Loretta and Sharon Kay.
