---- — Frances “Tank” Luchtefeld, 94, of Effingham, passed away at 1:35 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013, at Willowbrook, Effingham.

Funeral services will be at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Effingham. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery, Effingham. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday before the services at the church. Johnson Funeral Home, Effingham, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made to Effingham County FISH Organization or St. Anthony Schools. Online condolences may be left at www.johnsonandsonsfh.com.

Frances was born on Sept. 10, 1919, in Effingham, the daughter of Dr. Henry and Elizabeth (Eversman) Taphorn. She married Harry “Hank” Luchtefeld on Aug. 7, 1945, in Effingham, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 10, 2010. Frances was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Effingham, and Council of Catholic Women. She did various volunteer activities with the Effingham County FISH Organization. Frances was a homemaker and in her later years worked for Welcome Wagon. She was an Effingham County Election Judge. Frances enjoyed bowling, embroidery, crocheting, and playing cards. She was an avid Cardinal fan. She was the oldest living graduate of St. Anthony School. Frances was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.

Frances is survived by her children, Paul (Sandy) Luchtefeld of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., Dr. Dan (Sheryl) Luchtefeld of Lexington, Ky., Phil (Judy) Luchtefeld of Effingham, Mary Jo (Philip) Wendt of Teutopolis, Charlie (Karen) Luchtefeld of Effingham, Jerry (Jane) Luchtefeld of Edwardsville, Judy Hiza of St. Charles, Mo., Rita (Dominick) Angarano of Wood River, Dr. Martin (Cheri) Luchtefeld of E. Grand Rapids, Mich., Roger (Pam) Luchtefeld of St. Louis, Bill (Sue) Luchtefeld of Alton, Eric (Peggy) Luchtefeld of Kansas City, Mo., Henry (Julie) Luchtefeld of Morton; 32 grandchildren; 3 stepgrandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 7 great-stepgrandchildren; and 1 great-great-stepgranddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hank; one grandchild; and four sisters.
