Marjorie Lois Winkler, 81, of Dieterich, died at 2:36 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at St Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, south of Dieterich, with the Rev. Stephen Gillet officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, south of Dieterich. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church and a half hour before the services Saturday at the church. In loving memory of Lois, memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Dieterich High School Scholarship Fund or the donor’s choice. Lois was born Jan. 12, 1932, in Mattoon, the daughter of Rene and Pauline (Dowell) Dent. She married D. A. “Wink” Winkler on Feb. 7, 1953, in Mattoon, and he survives.
Lois was a home economics teacher and taught for 37 years at Riverton and Dieterich schools.
Lois was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Women’s Club and Effingham County Home Extension. She enjoyed sewing and reading.
Lois is survived by her husband 60 years, D.A. “Wink” Winkler of Dieterich; children, Tina (Thomas) Tromiczak of Hindsdale, David (Brenda) Winkler of Effingham and Lisa (Brad) Bushue of Effingham;
grandchildren, Daniel (Camille) Winkler, Kristen Winkler, Hailey Bushue and Jacob Bushue; brother, David (Vivian) Dent of Bakersfield, Calif.; and sister, Betty (Cleo) True of Vero Beach, Fla.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Anna Decker.
