Dean O’Dell, 72, of Ingraham, passed away at 2:46 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Wendelin. Interment will be at Brooks Cemetery, rural Ingraham, with military rites accorded at the cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at J.W. Neal Funeral Home, Louisville. Memorials may be made to Clay County Health Department and will be received at the funeral home. Dean was born Wednesday, Feb. 12, 1941, in Cripple Creek, Colo., the son of Harold and Winnie (James) O’Dell. On Aug. 25, 1991, he was united in marriage to Rose Workman and to this union four sons and one daughter were born. He enjoyed his time as a member of the Amerian Legion of Sailor Springs and was a faithful member of the Holy Cross Church of Wendelin. He was employed by Hughes Aircraft of California as an engineer.
Dean is survived by wife, Rose O’Dell of Ingraham; sons, James O’Dell of California, Matt O’Dell of California, Mark O’Dell of California, and Luke O’Dell of Indiana; daughter, Charlotte Kirkpatrick of Massachusetts; brothers, Chuck O’Dell of New Mexico, and James O’Dell of Colorado; sisters, Anna Barnett of New Mexico, Darlene Garroute of Oklahoma, and Laura Gearhart of Colorado; 16 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Walter O’Dell; sister, Thelma O’Dell and infant sister, Regina O’Dell.
