---- — Carolyn Elizabeth Musser, 88, of Beecher City, passed away at 10:14 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, in her home.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, in Beecher City Church of Christ. Preacher Dennis Warner will officiate. Private interment will be in Hubbartt Cemetery, Beecher City. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Memorials may be made in Carolyn’s memory to the Church of Christ of Beecher City.

Carolyn was born May 15, 1925, in Shelby County, the daughter of Wilson and Violet Slifer Conner. On June 28, 1944, she married Earl C. Musser. He passed away on May 11, 1990. On Jan. 19, 2003, she married Freeman Laue and he passed away on April 24, 2007. Carolyn was a member of one of the first classes to graduate from Beecher City Community High School.

Carolyn was, first of all, a loving homemaker for her family. When Earl passed away in 1990, she went back to school to complete her CNA training and received her degree as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She provided compassionate, attentive health care for many families and patients in Effingham County. She loved her community and worked diligently on many local projects and events. Carolyn was a longtime member of the Beecher City Church of Christ, Effingham Farm Bureau and Home Extension and was a 4-H leader for 40 years. She enjoyed attending yearly Beecher City High School reunions. Carolyn worked on the Beecher City Homecoming, which she and her husband Earl started. Carolyn was proud of her children and doted on her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

As hobbies, Carolyn enjoyed gardening, traveling and watching and feeding numerous birds in her backyard.

Surviving are her children, Diana (Jack) Storm of Wichita, Kan., Cheryl Musser of Effingham, Mark (Ann) Musser of Beecher City, and Annette (Steve) Donaldson of Beecher City; grandchildren, April (Eddy) Lucas of Wichita, Kan., Amber Brown of Plano, Texas, Tracie (Chris) Petzing of Stewardson, Joni (Mark) Flack of Altamont, Kari (Devin) McManaway of Effingham, Brenton Donaldson of Beecher City, Adrian (Shawn) Nowitzke of Shumway, and Jessica (Jake) Simmons of Terre Haute, Ind.; great grandchildren, Matthew Lucas, Brandon Lucas, Alexandria Brown, Evan Petzing, Andrew Petzing, Gavin Flack, Ellie Flack, Jordon Nowitzke, Conner Nowitzke, Adilynn Nowitzke, Reese Simmons and Paige Simmons; brother, Harry Conner of Rockford; sister-in-law, Cora Kessler of Beecher City; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Musser and husband, Freeman Laue; her parents, Wilson and Violet; and grandson, Ian Earl Donaldson, in infancy.
