---- — Wayne L. “Buster” Flowers, 69, of Wheeler, died at 9:02 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home, Newton, with Nate Hagen officiating. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, near Willow Hill. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home, Newton. In loving memory of Wayne, memorials may be made to the Latona Church of Christ Building Fund. Wayne was born on August 6, 1944 in Effingham, the son of Floyd and Lottie May (Main) Flowers. He married Barbara Short on April 23, 1994 in Newton.
Wayne was a factory worker. He was a member of the Latona Church of Christ. He enjoyed working on cars, NASCAR and spending time with his family.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 19 years, Barbara Flowers of Wheeler; children Lori (James) Ross of Aurora, Matt (Jill) Flowers of Dieterich, Carol (John) Tracy of Jewett, Connie Gouchenouer of Effingham, Elizabeth Marose of Ft Campbell, Ky., and Susan (Earl) Mick of Pubelo, Colo.; brothers Raymond (Georgia) Flowers of Lakeland, Fla. and Kenneth Flowers of Dieterich; sisters Patty Gottenberg of Ottawa and Carol Moore of Effingham; grandchildren Christopher (Leah) Tracy of Hidalgo, Steven Tracy of Montrose, Mason (Brooke) Flowers of Effingham, Nicholas Ross of Aurora, and Aaron, Samantha and Paige Walk all of Wheeler; two great-grandchildren; and aunt, Loretta Rushing of Mason.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Dorothy Harper, Lillian Schenck and Gladys Jones.
