---- — Richard A. “Dick” Johnson, 76, of Decatur, passed away Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, in Evergreen Assisted Living Center.
Graveside services to celebrate Dick’s life will be in Old Union Cemetery in Bible Grove at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the activity fund at Evergreen Assisted Living Center.
He was born Aug. 11, 1937, in Hord, the son of Richard and Louise (Moore) Johnson. He was previously employed as a drywall contractor. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and NASCAR, especially Jeff Gordon.
He leaves behind his special friend Sherry Garner; sons Curtis (Amanda) Johnson, Mark (Kasandra) Johnson, Brett (Jan) Johnson, and Darren (Cheryl) Johnson; daughter Debbie (Stan) Alwardt; brothers Bennie (Kay) Johnson, Troy (Jamie) Johnson, and Joe (Gina) Johnson; thirteen grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Tom and Ronnie Johnson; and sister, Retta Thompson.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses and staff at Evergreen Assisted Living Center for all of their compassionate care.
