---- — Charles Fredrick Veatch, 93, of Edgewood, passed away at 12:20 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, at Evergreen Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Effingham.
Funeral service will be at noon today (Sept. 17) at Pagel Funeral Home, Edgewood. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery. Visitation will be two hours prior to service. Memorials are requested to Edgewood or Kinmundy Opera House or the donor’s choice.
Charles was born on Aug. 7, 1920, in Clay County, the son of Jerry and Elma (Waggoner) Veatch. He married Norma E. White on Feb. 4, 1946, in Effingham. He was a custodian at Fedders in Effingham for 15 years and worked at Burton’s produce in Edgewood for 35 years. A lifetime member of the US Army Veteran of World War II and the Theodore Hoffman VFW Post 1769 of Effingham. He is also the last charter member of the Keeler-Adams American Legion Post 1168. He was a member of the Full Gospel Church of Edgewood.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Charles (wife, Mary) Veatch of Edgewood, and Robert (wife, Debra) Veatch of Mason; one sister, Wonetta (husband, Haven) Nelson of Edgewood; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gailen Ray Veatch; and one daughter, Wanda Audrey Veatch; and one brother, William Henry Veatch.
