Chance M. Young, 18, of Flora died at 1:10 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2012, in Effingham County as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Frank & Bright Funeral Home, Flora. Burial will be in Oskaloosa Cemetery, Xenia. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home. The family requests memorial donations be made to the family to help assist with expenses. He was born Nov. 29, 1993, in Charleston, to Wade Young and Jamie Lynn (Erwin) Young. Chance had a big heart and loved life. He liked spending time with his friends, enjoyed being around children and loved spending time outdoors going fishing, swimming, camping and riding horses.
He is survived by his father, Wade Young of Flora; mother, Jamie (Terry) Plowman of Effingham; brother, Mason Young of Effingham; paternal grandmother, Judy Young of Flora; maternal grandmother, Pam Erwin (friend, Joe Borris) of Effingham; stepbrothers and stepsisters, Jessica, Miranda, Santana and Tyler; aunts, Lisa (Rick) Miller of Edgewood, Jennifer Erwin of Mattoon and Jodi Erwin (friend, Martin Durbin) of Altamont; uncle, Jeff (Carrie) Young of Florida; niece, Jeneé; cousins, Lindsey, Jake, Danyell, Kaleb and Madison; and girlfriend, Destiny Scott of Flora.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Donald Young; and maternal grandfather, Dan Erwin.
