Freda M. Willms, 88, of St. Elmo died at 8:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont, with Henry Meyer officiating. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, St. Elmo. Visitation will be for one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Elmo Public Library. Online condolences may be expressed at www.giesekingfh.com.
Freda was born April 10, 1924, in Blackwell, Okla., to Clifford E. and Emma Farrel Carnes Masters. She married ARthur Neil Willms on June 5, 1949. He preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 1971.
Freda was a member of the First United Methodist Church, St. Elmo, and the Vit-Em-In Sunday School class. She was a member of Fayette County Home Extension, had been a 4-H leader and a volunteer for blood drives. She was a homemaker and was retired from Kmart, Effingham.
Surviving are her son, Lyndon (Rita) Willms of Murphysboro; daughters, Nancy (Les) Rabe of Champaign, Norma (Jeff) Baars of Charlestown, Mass., Sarah (Scott) Morris of Pesotum; 10 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Lawrence E. and Roy Masters, and two grandchildren.
