Clara was born on Feb. 20, 1915, in Vigo County, Ind., the daughter of Delpha and Elsie (Thompson) Paddock. She married Ellis O. Angel June 11, 1938, and was baptized into Effingham First Baptist Church in November of 1938. Clara had an engineering degree which helped her design their home on North Henrietta in Effingham. Next door to their home, Clara and Ellis had their Angels Sales and Service Rexair Vacuum Business. Clara and Ellis opened up their hearts and home to many children as foster parents in the Effingham area. Of her many interests, church and missions were most important including the development of new churches. Even at the age of 97 when she moved to Alpine, AL, it was still important to be involved in the local church. On April 7, 2013, she joined the family of Alpine Baptist Church.
She is remembered by her family, daughter, Denise (Don) Webb; grandchildren, Suzanne (Kevin) Kelley, Thomas (Judy) Ivy Jr., Timothy (Pam) Ivy, Brian (Christy) Taylor Jr., Kathleen (Steve) Williams, Jennifer (Jason) Montgomery, Josh (Danelle) Webb, Amanda Webb, and Joe (Christan) Webb; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
