---- — Duane E. Baker, 56, of rural Neoga, passed away Friday morning, June 21, 2013, in his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Swengel-O’Dell Funeral Home, Neoga, with the Rev. H. B. Senter of Neoga and the Rev. Glenn Baker of Forsyth officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Raney Cemetery, Big Spring Township, Shelby County. He was born June 10, 1957, in Mattoon, the son of Charles E. and Mary Edith (Latch) Baker. He was self-employed and he attended the Christ Fellowship Church of Neoga. Duane graduated from Arcola High School in Arcola, and he married Sherry Massie on Sept. 2, 1978, in Tuscola.
He loved the outdoors, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son and grandson. He also enjoyed looking for antiques and Indian artifacts.
Duane leaves four daughters, Nikki Guthridge (husband, Daniel) of Lovington, Gwen McTeer (husband, Rick) of Neoga, Myah Baker of Mattoon and Taylor Baker of Neoga; one son, Logan Baker of Neoga; two brothers, Ronald Baker (wife, Cynthia) of Neoga and Earl Baker of Arcola; four grandchildren, Britton, Kale and EmmaRee McTeer all of Neoga, and Teil Guthridge of Lovington; and one sister-in-law, Emy Baker of Westfield.
Mr. Baker was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Don Baker.
