---- — Gene Byford Rickfelder, Sr. 77, of Effingham, joined his youngest son, Gaius Kristin, in heaven on Sunday, June 16, 2013, at Effingham Rehabilitation & Health Care Center, Effingham.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Schmidt Park in Altamont. Dinner will be provided following the service. Services are in care of Hall Funeral Chapel, Effingham. Condolences may be left online at www.hallfuneralchapel.com.
Gene was born Aug. 2, 1935, in Greenville, to Herman and Agnes Chance Rickfelder.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Levesta Tipsword. They were married on Dec. 30, 1961, in Dexter.
Gene leaves behind three children, Yanya McReynolds (husband, Tim) of Tampa, Fla., Kara Rickfelder (fiance, Ted) of Arcola and Gene Rickfelder Jr. (wife, Joanne) of Effingham; six grandchildren, Katherine, Mellisa, Matthew, Elizabeth, Philip and Daniel; and two great-grandchildren, Hudsyn and Trinity.
He was preceded in death by his parents, nine brothers and four sisters.
