---- — Lewis William Crawford, 87, of St. Elmo, passed away at 6:34 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2014, at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. in Griffith Cemetery, Brownstown, with Pee Wee Denton officiating. Memorials may be made to Griffith Cemetery, St. Elmo Lions Club or the donor’s choice. C & A Pagel Funeral Home, St. Elmo, is in charge of arrangements.
He was born on Nov. 24, 1926, in Fayette County, the son of Archie and Genevieve (Stolte) Crawford. He married Patrica Rhodes May 15, 1953, in Colchester, and she preceded him in death. He then married Betty Woolsey on Dec. 6, 2008, in St. Louis. He was a member of the St. Elmo Lions Club, Masonic Lodge, 32nd degree of Peoria 15’s, Peoria Shriners, and Peoria Consistory Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by wife, Betty of St. Elmo; brother, John Crawford (wife Barbara) of St. Elmo; and sisters, Erma Glover (husband Glen) of California, Mildred Lear (husband Bill) of West Salem, and Sue Ferrel (husband Don) of Raleigh; three nieces; 10 nephews; and four stepchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Marjory Ashburn.
