W. Eugene St. John, 84, of Toledo, passed away at 4:45 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2014, at Mattoon Rehab and Health Care, Mattoon.
There will be no funeral services. Inurnment will be in the Toledo Cemetery at a later date. Memorials can be made to either the Salem United Methodist Church or to the Pet Connection. Gene was born in Shelby County, Illinois, to Walter and Golda (Greeson) St. John. He married Madge Mock on Sept. 12, 1948. Gene was a retired farmer and drove a school bus for the Cumberland School District for 35 years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Toledo American Legion and the Cumberland County Farm Bureau.
Surviving is his loving wife; son, Johnny (Brenda) St. John of Toledo; three grandchildren, Andy (Erin) St. John of Greenup, Amy Allen of Highland and Addison St. John of Toledo; three great-grandchildren, Emma St. John and Ava and Payton Allen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and one brother.
