Jessie L. (Lawhorn) Burton, 83, of Toledo, died on Thursday April 3, 2014, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Mattoon.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Barkley Funeral Chapel, Toledo. Burial will be in Mullen Cemetery, rural Montrose. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral chapel. Jessie was born on June 22, 1930, in Sullivan, to Arthur and Arizona (Eaton) Lawhorn. She married Paul L. Burton on Feb. 7, 1958, near Toledo; they were married by Judge William Hill. Jessie and Paul lived in Woodbury for many years. She was a homemaker and she raised several foster children and some of her nieces and nephews. She was member of the Toledo Christian Church.
She leaves her husband and four children, Sharon Seeley of Toledo, Sheila (Tom) Fritts of Toledo, Rick Warfield and wife Tommi of Watson, and Karen Sue Stone of Quincy; brother, Roy Lawhorn of Toledo; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; foster son, David Stone; brothers, Cleon, Edward and Raymond Lawhorn; and sisters, Rea Bueker, Opal Hickey and Myrtle Bueker.
