Summer Lynn Monroe, 33, of Neoga, passed away at 6:52 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, at Heartland Christian Village, Neoga.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church, Neoga, with the Rev. Mel Workman and the Rev. Brian Miller officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at First Christian Church, Neoga. As per Summer’s wishes, following services cremation rites will be accorded. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Fund, Relay For Life of Coles County or to the family for the children’s education. Swengel-O’Dell Funeral Home, Neoga, is in charge of arrangements. She was born Feb. 15, 1980, in Mattoon, the daughter of Mark and Jody (Shook) Fletcher. Summer was employed as an LPN, working for Sarah Bush Lincoln Clinic of Neoga. She was a member of the Crossover Church of Mattoon, a member of the Cancer Survivor’s Group and a member of the Neoga High School Dance Team. Summer enjoyed playing softball and all sports; she also enjoyed attending and watching the kids play sports. She married Tim Monroe on Nov. 6, 2004, in Neoga.
She leaves her husband, Tim Monroe of Neoga; two sons, Zachary and Andrew Monroe, both of Neoga: one daughter, Ella Monroe of Neoga; her mother, Jody Shook of Neoga; and her father, Mark Fletcher and wife Debbie of Montrose; one brother, Michael Fletcher of Sigel; two half sisters, Cassie Marie and Kelsey Jean Fletcher, both of Montrose; one step-sister, Misty Lawrence of Jewett; grandparents, Bill and Jan Shook of rural Mattoon; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wayne and Sharon Monroe of Neoga.
She was preceded in death by grandparents, James and Betty Fletcher.
