---- — Roland Smith, 75, of Shelbyville, died at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, in St. Mary’s Hospital, Decatur.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, with the Rev. Don Wallace officiating. Burial will be in Windsor Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Effingham Assembly or Compassion International. Online condolences may be left at www.howeandyockey.com.
Roland was born on Jan. 17, 1938, in Schenectady, N.Y. He served in the U.S. Army. Roland was retired from United Parcel Service (UPS) in New York, where he was a tractor-trailer driver for 33 years. He was a member of Effingham Assembly. He married Shirley D. Maxey on June 7, 1965, in New York. She died on Aug. 2, 1996.
Roland is survived by his dear friend, Audrey Lucas of Findlay; sons, Anthony Dahm and wife, Kymberli of Chantilly, Va., and Douglas Dahm and wife, Melissa of Ashburn, Va.; brother, Hal; sister, Janice; and four grandchildren, Andrew and Teresa Dahm and Brian and Tyler Dahm.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Shirley.
