Janet M. Funneman, 77, of Teutopolis, joined her husband in eternal life at 6:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, at Evergreen Rehabilitation & Health Care Center, Effingham.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Teutopolis. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the church with a ladies sodality rosary beginning at 4 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation. Janet was born Aug. 19, 1936, in Brownstown, the daughter of Lee and Melvina (Cearlock) Sapp. She graduated from St. Elmo High School in 1954. Janet then married James R. Funneman on Oct. 15, 1955, in Teutopolis, and he preceded her in death in 1987. She retired as secretary from J.B. Esker & Sons after 12 years. Janet was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis and the Ladies Sodality. She enjoyed delivering “meals on wheels” and was an avid Cubs baseball and Illinois basketball fan. Janet enjoyed playing bingo, gambling on the boat, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends.
Janet is survived by her six children, Doug (Terri) Funneman of Teutopolis, Pam (Mike) Mathy of Effingham, Angela Borrelli of Flora, Michael (Cindy) Funneman of Teutopolis, Craig (Laurie) Funneman of Effingham, and Marsha Funneman of Springfield; 19 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim Funneman; stepfather, Harold Marcott; and brother, Jack Sapp.
