Theodore J. “Ted” Williams, 51, of Jackson, Mo., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Visitation was Thursday, Sept. 26, at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson, Mo. Funeral Mass was Friday, Sept. 27, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Jackson, Mo., with Father John Harth officiating. Interment was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Cape Girardeau, Mo.
He was born Oct. 4, 1961, in Paragould, Ark., to Galen and Celeste Niebrugge Williams. He and Lori Bartels were married Feb. 5, 1994, in Jackson. Ted was raised in Paragould and was a graduate of Greene County Tech where he played basketball and was selected to the All-State Basketball team. He received a bachelor’s degree in Ag Business from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Ark. He worked 30 years in banking, primarily in Cape Girardeau and Jackson. For the past 13 years he worked as a commercial lender for Montgomery Bank in Cape Girardeau. Ted was a longtime member and former parish council president of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson. He was also a 3rd degree knight with the Bishop Timon Council in Jackson, and a member of Chamber of Commerce in both Cape Girardeau and Jackson. He was an avid outdoorsman and supporter of the Jackson schools. He especially enjoyed hunting and Jackson Indian basketball.
Loving survivors include his wife of 19 years, Lori of Jackson; three children, Zachary Williams (girlfriend, Melanie Essner) of Warrenton, Mo., and Taylor and Megan Williams of Jackson; his parents, Galen and Celeste Williams of Beech Grove, Ark.; three siblings, Julie Chipman of Paragould, Tim (Tammy) Williams of Florence, Ala., and Trent Williams of Huntington, N.Y.; aunts, Anna Marie Niebrugge of Effingham, and Louise Niebrugge of Sigel; uncle, Bill Barlage of Effingham; and many cousins in the Effingham area.
