---- — Loren W. Morgan, 82, of Effingham, passed away at 3:57 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Effingham, with the Rev. Joe Scheets officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Effingham, with military rites. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Monday at Johnson Funeral Home, Effingham. Memorials may be made to Effingham Senior Center. Online condolences may be left at www.johnsonandsonsfh.com.
Loren was born March 18, 1931, in Brownstown, the son of William and Ruth (Rush) Morgan. He married Jackie Barnes and she survives. Loren was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a pipeline relay operator for 33 years for Mobil Oil Company. When he retired, Loren was a vivid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed fishing and hunting with his grandchildren, nieces and nephews. His favorite canine was his little buddy, Scooby.
Loren is survived by his wife, Jackie Morgan of Effingham; children, Charlene Nelson and Kevin Gasper, both of Effingham; brothers, William (Peggy) Morgan of Garrett and Delbert “Red” Morgan of Effingham; 8 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles Eugene Morgan; and sister, Mary Alice Phillips.
