---- — Carolyn Ray Painter, 62, of Effingham, passed away at 10:50 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Pagel Funeral Home, Edgewood, with Mark White officiating. Burial will follow services in the Keens Chapel cemetery, rural LaClede. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to ARC Community Support Systems, Teutopolis.
Carolyn was born Oct. 10, 1951, in Vandalia, the daughter of Lowell and LaVona (Reynolds) Painter. Carolyn lived in Edgewood for several years until the year 2010, when she moved into the Effingham Terrace Group Home for the mentally handicapped. She then lived at Lakeland Nursing Home until she went home to be with the Lord. Her passion was dancing and she loved Elvis. She also loved being with her family and friends and will be greatly missed by everyone.
She is survived by her mother, LaVona Jones of Effingham; four brothers, Ben (wife Angie) Colclasure of Long Beach, Calif., John (wife Linda) Bonner of Champaign, Jim (wife Connie) Bonner of Edgewood, and Lee (wife Barb) Painter of Effingham; three sisters, Retha Coleman of Effingham, Bonnie (husband Tony) Holste of Altamont, and Mary (husband Keith) Veatch of Edgewood; stepmother, Aberta Painter of Salem; and many nieces and nephews.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her father, Lowell Painter; and stepfather, Calvin Jones.
