---- — Rolla Myers, 101, of Girard, formerly of Edgewood, went to be with the Lord at 8:50 a.m. Monday, April 1, 2013, at Pleasant Hill HealthCare, Girard.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Pagel Funeral Home, Edgewood. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until service time. Memorials are requested to the Edgewood Cemetery Association and can be sent to P.O. Box 201, Edgewood, IL 62426.
Rolla was born on March 31, 1912, in Clay County, the son of Ezra and Cora (Frazier) Myers. He married Alma Freeman on April 6, 1935, at Effingham County and she preceded him on April 12, 2006. He retired in 1974 after 33 years of service with the Illinois Central Railroad.
Surviving are his children, Myrna Myers of Girard, Monroe (Peg) Myers of St. Peter’s, Mo., Barbara Myers of Girard, and Lauretta (James) Newton of Swansea; grandchildren, Marc (Stacie) Myers, Michael (Michele) Myers and Kevin (Alexa) Newton; and great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Rebecca, Madison, Garrett and Cody Myers.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald, Charles and Dale Myers; and sisters, Hazel Rush, Lola Joliff and Ina Mascher; and daughter-in-law, Nancy (Jones) Myers.
