---- — Jay R. McConkey, 49, of St. Elmo, passed away April 1, 2013, at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Altamont. Private burial will be held at Sidener Cemetery, St. Elmo, at a later date. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church. Memorials are requested to the family. Arrangements are under the care of C&A Pagel Funeral Home, St. Elmo.
He had worked for Frontier Communications, was a past member of the A.T.A, and a participant at the St. Peter Sportsman’s Club.
He is survived by brothers, Paul (Doris) McConkey of St. Peter; Miles (Brenda) McConkey of Brownstown; and Alan McConkey of Vandalia; sister, Janet (Lowell) Hunsaker of St. Elmo; brothers-in-law, Terry Jones of Brownstown, and Don Koehler of Effingham; and many nieces and nephews.
Jay was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Diana Jones and Linda Koehler.
