Janice M. Schaefer, 74, passed away at 4:18 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, at her home in Effingham. She was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her passing.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham with entombment in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today, Oct. 24, at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart School in Effingham. Online condolences may be made at www.bauerfh.com.
Janice was born Nov. 12, 1937, in Woodbury Township, the daughter of Ben and Veronica (Schwerdt) Osborne. She married Fred C. Schaefer on Aug. 29, 1959, and he survives.
Janice was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham, Effingham Women’s Bowling Association Hall of Fame and belonged to the State and National 600 Clubs.
Janice is survived by her husband, Fred of Effingham; four sons, Greg (Teresa) of Bennett, Colo., Tracy of Martinsville, Tony (Jeni) of Ridgecrest, Calif., and Scott (Michelle) of Sigel; two daughters, Cynthia (Mike) DePoister of Lake Sara and Lisa (Ed) Hobler of Effingham; two sisters, Joan Ettelbrick of Greenup and Georgia Marsden of Portland, Ore.; 16 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren also survive.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael; and brother, Ben.
