Martha Thackrey, 91, of Louisville, passed away at 1:15 a.m. Friday, March 28, 2014, at her home.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Neal Funeral Home, Louisville. Burial will be in Orchard Hill Cemetery, Louisville. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. She was born July 5, 1922, in Louisville, the daughter of Marion Elison Goodman and Maude Myrtle (Jennings) Goodman. She married Elmer Lee Thackrey on June 28, 1945, in Louisville. She was self employed as a seamstress and owned a fabric shop called “Martha’s Fabric Shop” in Louisville. She enjoyed her time as a fabric shop owner and seamstress and enjoyed sewing wedding dresses and formal wear. She was a member of Oak Mound Christian Church and was baptized in the Little Wabash River on Sept. 29, 1950.
She is survived by son, Lance (Loretta) Thackrey of Belle River; foster son, Lane (Charlsie) Scarbrough of Flora; daughters, Vicki (Mitch) Payne of Xenia, Patricia (Richard) Whitman of Monmouth, and Felecia Thackrey of Manteno; grandchildren, David Lee Thackrey, Amanda (Ryan) Gibson, Ashli (Blake) Davidson, Richard Whitman Jr., Alex (Jessica) Whitman, Renee (Bill) Cushman, Marnie (Martin) Henderson, Delane (Mary) Harrington and Cory (Jen) Harrington; foster grandchildren, Brian (Kim) Scarbrough and Monica (Andy) Dean.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, eight brothers and five sisters.
