Norma M. Heitman, 82, of Effingham, went to be with the Lord Wednesday night, March 26, 2014, at Lakeland Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Effingham, surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Faith Lutheran Church in Shumway with the Rev. Jason E. Rensner officiating, with visitation from 9 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be in the Faith Lutheran Church Cemetery with Captain Jeff Eddy of the Mattoon Salvation Army officiating at the graveside. Memorials can be made to the Salvation Army of Mattoon. Norma was born on July 2, 1931, in Effingham County, the daughter of Dee and Losia (Flinn) Chesnut. She married Charles Heitman on May 3, 1952, at the St. Paul’s Evangelical Church in Clay County. Norma was a homemaker and a member of the Salvation Army Church in Mattoon.
Survivors include her husband, Charles; son, Neil (Kathy) Heitman of Normal; daughters, Joan (Jerry) Eirhart of Shumway & Sonya Suzewitz of Mesa, Ariz.; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Mildred Naber of Decatur; and brother, Loren (Marjorie) Chesnut of Mattoon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four grandchildren; and her son-in-law, Randy Suzewitz.
