Virginia W. Cook, 75, of Windsor, passed away at 2:35 a.m. Monday, March 10, 2014, at Sullivan Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home, Windsor, with the Rev. Richard Eident officiating. Burial will be in Windsor Cemetery. She was born July 14, 1938, in Dietrich, the daughter of James Riley and Thelma (Campton) McWhorter. She married Richard L. Cook Oct. 29, 1956, in Effingham. She was affiliated with Smyser Christian Church and was a homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and being with her family.
Surviving are her husband, Richard; sons, Gary (Anna) Cook of Mattoon, Richard (Paulie) Cook of Salem, Rick (Billie) Cook of Coles Station, Les (Brenda) Cook of Windsor and Bryon (Beth) Cook of Sullivan; sisters, Lucille (Charlie) Tarpley of Flora, Leona Butts of South Haven, Mich., and Cleta Colclasure of Farina; brothers, Billy (friend, Pat) McWhorter of Louisville, Larry (Linda) McWhorter of Dietrich, and Jerry (Donna) McWhorter of Montrose; half brother, Leroy Campton of Altamont; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Brenda Cook; and brothers, James Riley McWhorter and Lonnie McWhorter.
