HIDALGO — Clarence Eugene “Chub” Weck, 70, of Hidalgo, passed away at 3:30 a.m. Monday, March 10, 2014 at his home.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home, Newton, with the Rev. Jack Stoops officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Newton. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. In loving memory of Chub, memorials may be made to St. Anthony’s Hospice. Online condolences may be left at www.blakefh.com.
Clarence Eugene, better known as “Chub,” was born on July 9, 1943, in Paris, the son of Grover Eugene “Gene” and Dora Bell (Wilson) Weck. He married Barbara Snider on July 8, 1977, and she survives. Chub retired after 30 years of service as the manger of the water department for the City of Newton. He enjoyed fishing, yard work, wood working and spending time with his family.
Chub is survived by his wife of 36 years, Barbara Weck of Hidalgo; three children, Les (Lela) Weck of Hidalgo, Teresa (Jared) Jenkins of Hutsonville, and Todd (Connie) Faught of Dieterich; sisters, Ladora Poe of Marshall, Peg Lewis of Newton, and Mary (Doug) Washburn of Casey; brother, Jerry (Carol) Weck of Mattoon; and six grandchildren.
Chub was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jimmy Weck; and a sister, Patty Weck.
