---- — John Clinton Clark Calhoun Jr., 63, of St. Elmo, passed away at 5:55 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014 at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital, Effingham.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at C & A Pagel Funeral Home in St. Elmo. Funeral and graveside service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to his children at the Fayette County Bank in St. Elmo.
John was born on Jan. 6, 1951 in Effingham, the son of John Sr. and Mildred (McVicker) Calhoun. He married Cheryl Kilzer on March 7, 1990 in Mt. Vernon.
John was a lantern courier for several years and was currently employed as a FedEx driver. John enjoyed baseball, medal detecting, pool leagues, softball and his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife and a son, John Clinton Clark Calhoun III of St. Elmo; daughter, Amanda Calhoun of St. Elmo; step-daughter, Jenni Warner (husband Kenny) of St. Elmo; brothers, David Calhoun (wife Charlene) of Altamont, Steve Calhoun (wife Jeannie) of St. Elmo; sister, Holly Satterlee (husband John) of Taylorville; one grandchild, Layne Parker of St. Elmo; two step-grandsons, D.J. and Nicholas Warner of St. Elmo, and currently expecting his first granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
