Esther Gail Ramsey, 78, of Edgewood, passed away at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, surrounded by her family.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Pagel Funeral Home, Edgewood, with Judy Poe officiating. Interment will be in Edgewood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 to 1 p.m. prior to service. Memorials may be made to The Gideon’s International.
Esther was born on Dec. 30, 1935, in Clay County, the daughter of Otto and Ethel (Fender) Blair. She was a nursing assistant at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, for 25 years. She loved reading, embroidering and being with her family and friends.
Surviving is her mother, Verlene Blair Dorton of Effingham; daughter, Nancy Clark (husband Larry) of Salem; sons, Ed Hall of Salem, and Ronnie Hall of Edgewood; brother, Robert Blair (wife Sandy) of Edgewood; sister-n-law, Glenda Blair of Edgewood; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father; one son, Doug Hall; and one brother, Leslie Blair.
