---- — Richard Joseph Cecil Doty, 82, of Beecher City, passed away at 5:20 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at United Methodist Church of Beecher City with the Rev. Paul Bauer officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Lockart-Green Funeral Home, Beecher City. Masonic rites will be at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Beecher City Cemetery with military rites performed by Altamont V.F.W. Post 7676. Memorials may be given in Richard’s memory to the Veteran’s Memorial in Beecher City. Richard was born May 20, 1931, at Beecher City, the son of Wayne and Mercy Tennery Doty. He married Jeanie Beck on June 1, 1963, in St. Clare Catholic Church, Altamont. Richard graduated from Beecher City High School in the Class of 1950. In 1952 he entered the United States Army and served his country honorably in Korea during the Korean War.

Richard was a member of V.F.W. Post 7676 of Altamont, Greenland Masonic Lodge of Beecher City and Eva Casstevens American Legion Post of Beecher City. He, formerly, served on the Beecher City Board. Richard was a life-long grain and livestock farmer. He, also, was employed for many years at Oliver Tractor Co., in Shelbyville, and Fedders Corp. and World Color Press, both in Effingham. He loved his large and extended family and enjoyed all the times when they could be together. His life revolved around his family.

Surviving are his wife, Jeanie; children, Rachel Doty Reed of Beecher City, Wilson (Pam) Doty of Beecher City, Rebecca Doty Evans of Beecher City, Richard B. Doty of Beecher City, and Nathan (Cody) Doty of Shumway; grandchildren, Alex Evans, Clay Evans, Macy (fiancé Kenny Bryan) Reed. Mariah Reed, Camie Reed, Beau Reed, Honora Reed, Ethan Doty, Faith Doty, Seth Doty, Kaleb Doty and Kylie Doty; great-grandson, Walker Lee Bryan; brother, Harold Wayne (Orda) Doty of East Peoria; sisters, Lois Shull of Glen Carbon, and Evelyn Faye (Ernie) Miller of Plainfield, Ind.; sister-in-law, Janet Doty of Beecher City; brother-in-law, Irby Lapington of Henderson, Ky.; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lucille Lapington, Mary Alice Tipsword, Wanda Anderson and Ruth Buzzard; brothers, Dorwin Doty, Robert Doty ( his twin brother) and Nelson Doty.
