Sandra K. Moore, 72, of Gays, passed away at 7:28 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, with her family by her side.
Celebration of Life services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Reed Funeral Home, Sullivan, with First Elder Jerry Weiland II and Brett Murphy officiating. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Stewardson Seventh Day Adventist Church. Mrs. Moore was born Aug. 31, 1941, in St. Elmo, the daughter of Murl Edgar and Evelyn Dunbar Williams. Sandy was a hairdresser, a kindergarten teacher’s aide in Bethany and a teacher at the Stepping Stones Children’s Center in Mattoon. She was a member of the Stewardson Seventh Day Adventist Church, was a Red Cross volunteer and certified CPR instructor. Sandy enjoyed gardening, baking and golfing, and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She married A. Russell Moore on Sept. 4, 1960, in Arcola and he preceded her in death on Aug. 9, 2011.
Survivors include her children, Robin (Dennis) Righter of Sullivan, Lori Moore-Cole of California, Lisa Moore-Foster of Sullivan and Kelly Jo (Todd) Easton of Charleston; father, Murl E. Williams of Collegedale, Tenn.; grandchildren, Heath and Derek Righter, Hunter and Dylan Cole, Brett (Chelsea) Murphy, Blake Moore, Maddison and Case Easton; great-grandchildren, Haddley and Ainsley Righter, Haiven and Emery Murphy; brother, Larry Williams of Collegedale, Tenn.; sisters, Jeanne (Jack) Summers of Vandalia and Shirley Williams of Collegedale, Tenn.
She was preceded in death by her mother, husband, two brothers and a granddaughter, Brittany Murphy.
