---- — Larry Russell Henderson, 67, of Hidalgo, passed away at 5:35 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, at his residence.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Barkley Funeral Chapel, Greenup. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in Aten Cemetery, rural Hidalgo, with military rites by Cumberland County Veterans. Memorials may be made to the Jasper County Cancer Support Fund or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Larry was born in Olney, on Sept. 7, 1946, to Russell and Beulah (Isley) Henderson. He married Joyce Markwell on Dec. 28, 1969. He was in the Army during the Vietnam war. He was a lifelong farmer, his number one pastime was spending it with his grandchildren; he loved hunting, fishing, gardening, watching Illini basketball, and hunting and eating mushrooms in the spring.
Surviving is his wife of 44 years; daughters, Tracy (Mark) Wade of Greenup and Linda Ervin of Hidalgo; sister, Janet Henderson of Newton; stepmother, Betty Henderson of Newton; stepbrother, Rex Whalin of Texas; and stepsister, Sandy (Herb) Steinger of Charleston; and grandchildren, Leah Ervin, Dawson Ervin and Katie Wade.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carol Lake Volkman; stepbrother, Eric Whalin; and brother-in-law, Delaine Lake.
