---- — Edna W. Sturtenvant,  91 years old of Effingham, formerly of Altamont died on Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 18, 2013, at 2:20 p.m. at Lavender Ridge Memory Care, Effingham.

Funeral Services will be conducted Monday morning Dec. 23 at 11 a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Altamont, with the Rev. Dr. James F. Wright officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be conducted from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 22, at the Kull Funeral Chapel, Altamont, and for one hour prior to the funeral service at the church Monday. Burial Rites will be conducted at Arborcrest Memorial Park, rural Effingham immediately following the funeral services. For those who prefer Memorials they may be directed to KFUO radio, Concordia Seminary, Altamont Lutheran Interparish School (ALIS), Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lincoln Land Hospice, or the Donor’s Choice.    Online condolences may be expressed at www.kullfuneralhome.com for they are assisting the family.

Edna Wilhelmina Sturtenvant was born July 19, 1922, in Altamont one of eight siblings into the Christian family of Bernhard and Maria Ziegler-Wolf. Edna grew up in the Bethlehem Community and Bethlehem Lutheran Church, where she was baptized, confirmed her faith, educated in the elementary parochial school.

Edna moved to St. Louis in 1953 and worked as a secretary at Concordia Seminary from 1960-1985, the latter part as a secretary to Seminary President John F. Johnson. After moving back to Altamont in 1998 she was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Altar Guild, Fellowship Club, Women’s Home Bible Study, Lutheran Laymen League, Lutheran Care Center Volunteers, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and delivered Meals on Wheels.

Edna married Walter J. Sturtevant at St. James Lutheran Church, University City, Mo., on July 11, 1983 and he preceded him in death on June 21, 1994.

She is survived by her sister, Olga Wolf Potts of Inverness, Illinois; sister-in-law, Leona Kruger-Wolf of Altamont; several nieces, nephews and a host of local friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Edward Bernhard Wolf and Maria Ziegler-Wolf; husband, Walter J. Sturtevant; four brothers, Clarence and his wife Norma Wolf, Edgar Wolf, Carl and his wife Charlotte Wolf, Eugene Wolf; two sisters, Clara and her husband, Alfred Potts and Gertrude and her husband, Arlon Burrow; brother-in-law, Gilbert Potts
