---- — Marietta Gregor Carcione, 86, of Effingham and formerly of Newton, passed away at 3:40 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at Evergreen Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Effingham.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Newton, with the Rev. Al Kemme celebrating mass.
Burial will be in New St. Peter Cemetery, Newton. Visitation will be held one hour prior to Mass.
In loving memory of Marietta, memorials may be made to Evergreen Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Arrangements are under the care of Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home, Newton. Online condolences may be left at www.blakefh.com.
Marietta was born on Oct. 16, 1927, in Newton, the daughter of Leo and Ella Marie (Kinsel) Gregor. Marietta worked for many years in Las Vegas, as a show room waitress and later as a security guard. She was strong in her Catholic faith.
Marietta is survived by sister, Marguerite Gregor of Chicago; niece, Kimberly (Jesse) Johns Sr. of Clinton; great-nieces, Kelli Schott and Kristal Fetzer; great-nephew, Jesse Johns Jr.; great-great-niece, Grace Schott; great-great-nephews, Jesse Johns III and Connor Fetzer; cousins, Agnes (Dean) Bond and Richard Hippler.
Marietta was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Maxine Smith; brother-in-law, Charles Eugene Smith; husband Anthony Babuscio and husband Vincent Carcione; and a cousin, Larry Hippler.
