---- — Doris R. Mercier, 86, of St. Peter, passed away at 1:35 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter Lutheran Church, St. Peter, with Pastor Emrick officiating with one hour viewing prior to service. Burial will be in St. Peter Lutheran cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Pagel Funeral Home, St. Peter. Memorials may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church.
Doris Ruby Mercier was born May 3, 1927, in St. Peter, the daughter of Walter and Etta (Moeller) Schnake. She was baptized in 1927 at St. Peter Lutheran Church and was confirmed in 1941. On May 12, 1946, she was married to Harry A. Mercier. He preceded her in death on Aug. 30, 1991. They were blessed with two sons, Gary Mercier and Donald Mercier.
She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church all of her life. She was a faithful member of L.W.M.L. , a member of the St. Peter Ladies Aide, a Sunday school teacher, a Braille worker and she loved to quilt. She also loved and served her Lord Jesus.
Surviving are her two sons, Gary Mercier (wife Susan) of Grafton, Wis., and Donald Mercier (wife Cynthia) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; four sisters, Elaine Kruger (husband Richard) of Rolesville, N.C., Charlene Courson (husband Gale) of Farina, Betty Rubin of St. Peter, Frances Wald (husband Justin) of Springfield, Mo.; four granddaughters, Julie, Amy, Alecia and Andrea; three great-grandchildren, Allison Demerath, Jacob Demerath and Sophie Stuerkenberg.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Bernice Rubin.
