Caryl Tilley, 94, of Effingham, peacefully joined the loves of her life: God and her husband, Albert, in Heaven on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, at her home.
Celebration of Life services for Caryl will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Gospel Assembly Church, Effingham, located at the corner of Clinton Street and Walnut Street, 509 S. Merchant St., Effingham. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Johnson Funeral Home, Effingham. The family would appreciate memorials made to Gospel Assembly Church in Effingham. Caryl was born on Nov. 22, 1919, the daughter of Burel and Jessie (Porter) Parker. She married Albert T. Tilley in 1939. She and her husband, Albert, spent their entire married life in Effingham raising their six children. Caryl worked for many years on the maternity floor at St. Anthony’s Hospital, Effingham. She enjoyed her work with the birthing mothers and cherished the friendships she made with co-workers. She truly enjoyed her gardening, church family and friends. The love Caryl had for her large family was extraordinary. She was a lifetime member of Gospel Assembly Church, Effingham.
Caryl leaves to cherish her memory, Beverly (Jerry) Ross of San Diego, Calif., Barbara (Rick) Alsup of Champaign, Tom (Janis) Tilley of Albany, Ga., Theresa (Lonnie) Stewart of Mattoon, and Kayla (Doug) Manley of Olney; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Albert, in 1999; and a daughter, Cheryl, in 2001; and brothers, Raymond Parker and Claude Parker.
