Harold G. Campe, 82 of Altamont, died at 3:35 a.m. Monday, July 1, 2013, at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Altamont, with the Rev. Dr. James F. Wright officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, July 2, at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont, and for one hour prior to service time at the church.
Burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, Altamont. Memorials may be made to Lutheran Care Center, Immanuel Lutheran Church Building Fund or the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be made at www.giesekingfh.com.
Harold was born on Jan. 10, 1931, in Avena Township, rural Fayette County, to Edward and Edna (Koss) Campe.
He married Norma Jean Hubrich on June 27, 1954, at St. Paul ‘Blue Point’ Lutheran Church, rural Altamont.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where he had served in several capacities over the years.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Jean of Altamont; son, Kevin and his wife, Kim Campe of Troy; daughter, Marsha Silvey and her husband, Craig of Sedalia, Mo.; brother, Eldon Campe of Altamont; sisters, Esther Magnus and her husband, Lavern, of St. Peter, Lorene Schroeder of Altamont, Alice Jones and her husband, Vernie, of Bethany, and Belva Schaefer of St. Peter; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; one great-grandchild; and four great-stepgrandchildren.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jr. Campe (in infancy) and Delbert Campe; brothers-in-law, Elvin Schroeder, John Calhoun and Lloyd Schaefer; and sister-in-law, Myrna Campe.
