---- — George Clark Jr., 83, of rural Jewett, passed away at 3:55 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Mattoon.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Bishop Funeral Home, Greenup, with the Rev. Tim Pearce officiating. Burial will be in Greenup Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today, June 29, at the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.blakefh.com.
George was born in Jasper County, the son of George and Clista (Coverstone) Clark Sr. He married Evelyn Louise Reisner on March 20, 1950, and she preceded him in death on Feb. 18, 2002. George was a lifelong farmer in Jasper County. George was a long-time member of the Rebounders Club and the Oskee Club at the University of Illinois. He enjoyed playing cards and was an avid University of Illinois sports fan.
George is survived by his children, Tom (Nancy) Clark of Greenfield, Wis., Peggy (Danny) Bowers of Sullivan, and Tony (Mary Roffers) Clark of Shorewood, Wis.; grandchildren, Phoebe (Jesse Blunt) Bowers of Decatur, and Gabe Bowers of Carbondale; great-grandchildren, Henry Blunt and Scarlett Blunt of Decatur; sister, Jewel Fritscher of Des Plaines; special friend, Betty Yocum of Greenup.
George was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sister, Emma Jane Reisner; and a brother, Denver Clark.
