---- — Gail C. (Van Dyke) Bailey, 59, of Mandeville, La., passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2013, after a short illness. She died peacefully in her home with her loving husband and sister at her side.
Graveside services will be held at noon Wednesday in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Effingham, with the Rev. Drew Holloway officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Wednesday at Johnson Funeral Home, Effingham. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gail’s memory to either Hospice of St. Tammany, 721 W. 11th Ave., Covington, LA 70433, or St. Francis Animal Sanctuary, P.O. Gail was born on May 15, 1953, in Flora, the daughter of Logan and Lorna Van Dyke, and grew up in Effingham. She married John N. Bailey in 1988. In 1979, Gail moved to Louisiana, where she worked a long career as a travel consultant with several local firms.
Gail is survived by her husband, John N. Bailey of Mandeville, La.; sister, Brenda J. (Dale) Brooks of St. Charles, Mo.; nephew, Jeremy L. Brooks (fiancee, Amy Rogers) of Lenexa, Kan.; and a great-niece, Jennah Brooks of Lenexa, Kan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Logan and Lorna Van Dyke.
